Made with the finest cotton thread, Sea Island cotton
The American Sea Island Cotton used in the socks has a cashmere-like feel, a silky luster, and excellent moisture absorption and durability.
In addition, it accounts for less than 0.0001% of the world's cotton production, and is therefore called a phantom cotton, and is also nicknamed the "jewel of fibers." It has been loved by the British Royal Family for many years, and has established itself as the world's finest cotton. -
In addition, by applying our own special technology, we are able to apply different pressure to different parts of the body, making the socks less tiring even when worn for long periods of time, and achieving an ideal fit.
These socks, which combine durability with the finest touch and ultimate comfort, are knitted by artisans with great care one by one, and only the selected socks are made into products.
It is perfect as a gift for a loved one or as a treat for yourself. -
What is the "miracle cotton" - American Sea Island Cotton?
The Origins of American Sea Island Cotton <br/>More than 200 years ago, in the 1790s, cotton from the West Indies was successfully introduced to America. Unlike upland cotton cultivated in America, most West Indies cotton does not have down on the seeds, so the fibers and seeds can be easily separated with a simple roller gin.
For a long time, it was a dream to cultivate such cotton in America. However, all the cotton grown in the West Indies is a perennial plant, and it is difficult to survive the winter in the American climate, so it was necessary to develop a new variety that could be modified into an annual plant that could harvest the best stable without surviving the winter, and that would flower, fruit, and ripen earlier.
And it was growers along the South Carolina coast who succeeded in developing this new variety. This was the moment when American Sea Island cotton was born.
Over the next 100 years or so, the United States became the major producer of sea island cotton in the world.
At its peak around 1830, cultivation volumes reached 27,000 tons, and large quantities were exported to Britain.
However, after 1918, the cotton was devastated by pests, and the United States Department of Agriculture switched to cultivation of American Egyptian cotton, which is more resistant to pests.
The last cultivation of American sea island cotton took place in 1922. -
Resurrection, revived after 100 years
It has been about 100 years since American Sea Island cotton, which was once the world's mainstream, disappeared.
Aiming to revive American sea island cotton, we began trial cultivation at the experimental farm of New Mexico State University in 2004, and after 13 years, we succeeded in commercial cultivation. Finally, in 2017, American sea island cotton was revived.
A genuine advantage
A hologram is included with each pair of shoes to guarantee that Sea Island cotton is used.
Additionally, the quality assurance numbering is proof that this product is 100% reliable.
Uses a knit that stimulates blood circulation
As shown in the right figure, different pressures are applied to different parts of the feet, taking foot care into consideration. The pressure from the bottom up makes the shoes comfortable to wear.
Please try it out and experience how comfortable it is to wear for long periods of time.
Reliable technology and carefully selected materials
Using our unique technology, we are able to knit socks that are both durable and comfortable to wear. In addition, we use more yarn, knit the socks larger than the final product, and adjust the size by steam.
As a result, we are able to produce socks that are finer and more durable than regular socks.
The packaging is also top-notch
"Oashi" in a gold-plated paulownia wood box
The golden ratio has a harmonious appeal and is used in paintings such as the Mona Lisa. The "Paulownia Box" packed in the golden ratio paulownia box is designed to make the socks look their most beautiful.
In addition, by tying the paulownia boxes with "Sanada-himo", a string that is said to have been named after the Sengoku period warlords Sanada Masayuki and Sanada Yukimura, the company has blended tradition with modernity and established the Sugiyama Knit Kogyo brand.
